Taelo Mojapelo is the CEO of BP Southern Africa which includes Mozambique operations. She assumed this role in June 2020.
Taelo is a business leader with 19 years professional experience in Africa and a wealth of commercial and operational experience in Supply Chain Leadership Strategy and Operational Excellence. She joined bp from Mondelez International where she held the position of Supply Chain Director. Prior to this, Taelo held a number of operational and senior leadership supply chain roles at South African Breweries, Kellogg’s and DHL Exel.
Taelo is committed to transforming and creating a conducive environment for all employees to thrive through value-based leadership and has led bp amid a major transition in the oil industry. In her role as CEO of bpSA, she actively supports and sponsors the diversity, equity and inclusion agenda, ensuring teams recognize people’s individuality while promoting a high-performance culture. Taelo continues to advocate for transformation, evident by the sizeable increase in executive female representation in bpSA.
Taelo believes leading is a personal commitment to contribute meaningfully to the communities in which we live, to foster the next generation of talent. Throughout her leadership journey, she has committed herself to purposeful empowerment of the youth. Holding senior positions in various organizations has enabled Taelo to contribute towards skills development through coaching and mentoring.
Taelo is married and she is a mother to two boys. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening and travelling.
Taelo holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Cambridge University and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Chemical Technology from the University of Natal. In addition, she is a certified supply Chain Professional (CSP), a certified Director with the Institute of Directors (IoDSA) as well as a University of Witwatersrand sessional lecturer in modular supply chain.
