Cameroon-Chad Bridge At 62% Completion

The 620m bridge is due to be completed in July 2024.

Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Works has announced that construction work on the bridge over the River Logone connecting Cameroon and Chad has reached 62% completion as of 21 November.

The 620-metre cross-border bridge will connect Yagoua in Cameroon’s Far North region and the riverside Bongor area in Chad.

The bridge comprises a 7-metre-wide dual carriageway and two pavements 1.5 metres in width.

The project also includes the construction of access roads totalling 14.18km in the two countries, a one-stop border post at Bongor, annex buildings, signage facilities and weighing stations.

The Logone bridge is part of the wider Lake Chad Basin Regional Road Network Integration Project, which aims to improve the transport system in the Lake Chad Basin region.

The bridge is also one of the main links on the Douala-Bangui-N’Djamena corridor connecting Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Chad.
