CourieMate is a group company that operates a last mile delivery business in Eastern Africa. The Company has been operating in Uganda since 2017 and has accumulated the know-how and IT system knowledge necessary for last-mile delivery services.
Evaluation trials have been underway since January 2023 with an eye on business expansion in Tanzania, which has a significant level of market potential.
As a result, a new company was established in July 2023 as confirmation was achieved that the business model that CourieMate had built in Uganda would also work in the Tanzanian market. Anticipation is high that there is sufficient demand for home delivery services locally.
In Tanzania and other African countries, highly efficient logistics systems are not yet fully available, which is one of the main factors hindering economic growth.
CourieMate is able to offer more dependable and highly efficient last-mile logistics by utilizing nimble vehicles such as motorcycles, constant tracking of deliveries, and a dedicated home delivery app.
In addition, the Company will contribute to help solving local social issues and economic growth by creating employment for professional drivers and stimulating demand for home deliveries through the operation of its e-commerce site.
In the medium-term management plan (2022-2024) announced in 2022, Yamaha Motor designated several “New businesses” and “Growth businesses” as “Strategic Business Fields.”
As part of managing its business portfolio, the Company will actively allocate management resources to these businesses in order to develop them into future core businesses.
In the mobility service business, which is one of the Company’s new businesses, work is underway to create an environment that further enriches people’s lives through offering services that leverages Company expertise in the motorcycle business to help address social issues such as a lack of employment opportunities etc.
The Company’s asset management business help to lower the barriers to acquiring mobility for people in difficult economic situations, and the last mile delivery business further helps to create jobs that allow people to earn income using the acquired mobility, thereby revitalizing the local economy, and encouraging occupational drivers.
