The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commended Marconi NG EPC Limited, an indigenous oil and gas servicing company, for its strong commitment to advancing Nigeria’s local content policy.

In a statement issued on Friday, NCDMB described Marconi as a rising force in West Africa’s oil and gas sector, noting the company’s pledge to deliver projects at competitive costs and within record timelines. The statement was signed by Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications at the Board.

The commendation followed a facility tour in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, where NCDMB officials and select journalists inspected operations at Marconi’s Rumuolumeni Yard. The yard, acquired from Saipem Contracting Nigeria in May 2025, spans over one million square metres and boasts a 330-metre jetty.

Speaking during the tour, Marconi’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Gian Fabio Del Cioppo, highlighted the company’s fabrication capacity of more than 25,000 tonnes of heavy structures annually. He stressed that Marconi possesses the technical expertise, equipment, and skilled workforce to execute complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects both onshore and offshore.

“Marconi is fully aligned with the Presidential Directives on Local Content and the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act of 2010,” Cioppo said, adding that the company is determined to support national goals, create jobs, and drive economic growth.

Dr. David Editang, Marconi’s Nigerian Content Manager, explained that the new ownership retained experienced local professionals who had managed the yard for decades. He noted that the facility is equipped to fabricate, store, and load out completed structures through three jetties.

Marconi recently celebrated its First Steel Cutting Ceremony for subsea structures tied to a major offshore project. The yard has also contributed to landmark projects such as Egina, Usan, Akpo, and Train 7.

Dr. Ezeobi emphasized that Marconi is now strategically positioned to operate across the entire oil and gas value chain, from land and swamp terrains to deep offshore. He explained that the facility tour was part of NCDMB’s mandate under Sections 67 and 70(n) of the NOGICD Act, which require the Board to promote Nigerian Content through stakeholder engagement and capacity building.

He further underscored the role of the media in shaping public understanding of the oil and gas industry, noting that NCDMB has built sustainable partnerships with journalists nationwide and hosts annual engagements in Port Harcourt, Lagos, and Abuja.
